Despite the growing popularity of the Apple iPhone and its subsequent line of related products, the meaning of the ‘i’ in the now viral line of gadgets still remains a mystery to many users. The original release of the iMac was a breakthrough in hand-held technology, and the official history of the iMachines suggests that the meaning of the ‘i’ in the iMachines line of technologies was ‘Internet’.
Nowadays though, the ‘i’ stands for many things, more commonly as ‘Intelligent’ and ‘Intuitive’, alongside the original ‘Internet’ meaning. Being one of the most popular handheld technologies in the world, the iMachines line of products have an intelligent operating system which can easily identify phone numbers and other pertinent information from one iPhone to another via the simple means of wireless connectivity.
Because the ‘i’ in iPhone is such a ‘mysterious’ aspect of its nature and name, many a customer service number has been dialed with just that query in mind. There are even web boards and forums dedicated to deciphering the elusive significance of the ‘i’. Today, many users will agree that the ‘i’ in iPhone stands for either ‘intelligent’ or ‘intuitive’, although purists will decry that it stands for one thing only – ‘Internet’.
With nearly the whole of the world wired into the World Wide Web, a person’s phone number, address, music tastes, and even private messages can be stored in an intelligent piece of gadgetry like the iPhone, the likes of which have never before been seen or done. Made with technology that transcends the progress of the past decades, it has become the staple of every gadget-loving individual, and has slowly become one of the most dominant forms of gadgetry in the world today. This is spawning a whole line of products that always rank first in popularity and popular preference.
While the significance of the ‘i’ in iPhone will still continue to be a highly debatable subject, despite the official and commonly accepted interpretations, with a basic knowledge of what it might stand for, there can hopefully be a reduction in calls geared towards calling a customer service number with the sole intention of deciphering the enigmatic ‘i’ in iPhone, the most common gadget today.
