The lessons of gratitude, strength, and honesty are chiefly expressed in Nicole Bridger’s collections, Canada’s top sustainable women’s wear designer.
Every season, the designer looks to her personal life for inspiration and draws from the life lessons she is learning at the time. “I called this collection Healing Heart,” Bridger speaks of her new season, “At the time of creating this collection I was divorcing my husband, and doing what I needed to heal from the hurtful decisions he was making.”
Fall 2010
Devoted to showcasing her strength, vulnerability and resilience, Bridger paired down her collection to seven key capsule pieces, which took the designer back to her signature art of sculpting fabric, originally learned with her time at Vivienne Westwood in London. Nicole was just chosen as one of the most influential and forward thinking designers of the year from “Fashion Takes Action,” through her use of sustainable ethical eco choices for her line.
Each signature piece was created with the underlying confidence which comes with moving on with your life. Bridger is a woman, who designs for women, regardless of shape, size and age, her effortless aesthetic gives women the confidence to go anywhere and do anything in strong, relevant, well designed sustainable pieces. All pieces in the collection have her signature “I AM LOVE” mantra sewn into its label and engraved into its Tagua nut buttons as a reminder to speak kindly to yourself and to others, and help spread positive energy throughout.
The Present top - Nicole Bridger
