America’s Got Talent and the World Needs Water

I’m going to Atlanta to audition for “America’s Got Talent” next weekend, and hope to use the experience to raise money to dig wells for people who need fresh water. If by some miracle I actually win the contest I am going to donate the whole of my winnings to Charity:Water so that they can dig wells for people who don’t have access to clean water.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE SONG?

To publicize this endeavor, I have released ten short videos. The first is an introduction to my endeavor called “America’s Got Talent and the World Needs Water.” The other nine are the songs which I am considering as audition material. By the end of the week, the song with the most “likes” will be performed at the audition. The songs are:

  1. They Times They Are a Changin’ by Bob Dylan
  2. You May Be Right by Billy Joel
  3. Losing My Religion by REM
  4. One by U2
  5. Mad World by Tears for Fears
  6. Raspberry Beret by Prince
  7. Dear Abby by John Prine
  8. The Rainbow Connection by Kermit the Frog
  9. Long Gone Lonesome Blues by Hank Williams

I’ll be sharing each of the songs here at Modern Hippie Mag over the next five days so give them a listen and let me know which ones you like.

GETTING TO THE AUDITION

Presently, I have a 50cc Vespa with which to make the journey. However, considering that it is illegal for me to drive it on the Interstate, I don’t think that’s a viable option, and I’m pretty sure my wife doesn’t want me hitchhiking again. For a flight, hotel room, and rental car it looks like it’s going to cost me about $500 to make the trip so I am seeking financial assistance to help me on my way. Whatever is left over when I get back will go to Charity:Water, and I will continue to use this account to collect donations for Charity:Water as well. Whether I win the contest or don’t make it past the audition, I want to raise $1 million to give people access to clean water. For anyone who donates more than $20, I will send them a paperback copy of my book The McAllister Code. If you would like to help, even if you only want to send a dollar or two, you can easily send donations to my PayPal account at writetheworld@yahoo.com.

Thank you for your support.

What an awesome idea! I went to audition for American Idol the year that Kris Allen won. Didn't make it past round one, so I decided to write a song about my experience – got something out of it at least – something I could share with others. This is another great way to share your experience and also give to others in need. And it also makes for a useful piece of blog content. ;)
