In approximately… 7 weeks, or 42 days, or a month in a half, or better yet – 3 paychecks (that’s scares me!) – Anyway you look at it, Christmas bells will be ringing! So many eager hearts are bursting with holiday cheer, glowing and gleaming – carving Turkey, standing under mistletoe and frolicking gayly through the city streets.
And then there’s the rest of us. Most of us start out the season with high hopes and expectations of glorious family time, reuniting with friends and loved ones that we have not seen in months or years, hot cocoa, fireplaces and snowflakes (if you live up here in the northern half of the U.S. If not – shush, I just can’t handle the envy I might feel about your palm trees). But as days pass and Christmas gets closer and closer – The Scrooge in us all surfaces and maybe we start getting angry about the lines and crowds, maybe the snow blocked us in and made us late for work or perhaps we are stuck putting out the holiday lights all alone. Whatever the case may be – we all feel this sort of “holiday anxiety” at some point in time on some level. That’s okay. It’s a normal response. Not the healthiest or most fun response – but normal.
So how can we manage our holiday stress in a positive manner, benefiting our bodies and of course, all those who have to live with us? How about a deep tissue massage? Facial Acupressure, a Chakra Balance Massage or even a nice Rosemary Mint Foot Therapy? These are some of the options that many spas offer and they are one of the best ways to find your inner peace and calm during periods of stress.
Massage Therapy is our health and wellness ally! According to massagetherapy.com…”there’s no denying the power of bodywork. Regardless of the adjectives we assign to it (pampering, rejuvenating, therapeutic) or the reasons we seek it out (a luxurious treat, stress relief, pain management), massage therapy can be a powerful ally in your healthcare regimen.Experts estimate that upwards of ninety percent of disease is stress related. And perhaps nothing ages us faster, internally and externally, than high stress. While eliminating anxiety and pressure altogether in this fast-paced world may be idealistic, massage can, without a doubt, help manage stress.”
Our objectives are not important, what is important are the health benefits we receive from allowing ourselves to unwind and relax. With the holidays coming – what better way to stay balanced, calm and happy than to invest in a massage for yourself or someone you love? ”Investment is putting money into something with the hope of profit” -Wikipedia. (Love that mr Wiki – so spot on).
When focusing our attention and energy on creating a healthier self, we not only benefit our own lives, but those around us – i.e. profit. The holiday season can be filled with happiness, laughter and love but there’s usually a good dose of stress right in the mix. So whether you are “investing” in your own massage or treating someone you love to a spa treatment, it truly is a gift worth giving. We all need to breath, smile and relax during the holidays so why not give ourselves the gift of better health through massage? Or better yet, share this gift with someone you care about! Wishing you happy, healthy and relaxing holidays!
