ECOVOGUE365, by mother/daughter duo Russet and Jerah Coviello (Jerah of course is our brand spankin’ new eco-fashion editor) is an experimental project towards sustainable fashion. EcoVogue365 pledges to design and hand-craft versatile, tube-like garments while also, pledging to wear, promote, and educate themselves on what it takes to be sustainably fashionable in 2010.
EcoVogue365 offers 3 collections, BoBo, Butterfli, and Ripe. The Butterfli, is a limited edition collection of 365 tubes for the 2010 year. Coinciding with the four stages of a butterfly’s life cycle, the Butterfli tube began with 4 ways to wear the tube. With early inspiration from customers and fans, 4 ways molded into 20 and those represent their 20 ecovogue365 sustainability principles. Made with MODAL, a biodegradable fabric made of reconstituted cellulose from beech trees, this tube is similar to silk with a luxuriously soft feel, 50% more water-absorbent than cotton, breathes like cotton, and color-fast when washed in warm water (meaning it holds color & no fading). Each tube is hand-sewn by Russet herself.

I am seriously in love with my Butterfli tube! That I can keep it in the complimentary handy little garment bag in my purse for times when I need a little something to wrap around my arms is super convenient, but I also love the fact that I can get all La femme Nikita and change into something completely different at the drop of a dime…if I so choose to!
