“I think the environment should be put in the category of our national security. Defense of our resources is just as important as defense abroad. Otherwise what is there to defend?” – Robert Redford
The natural world is constantly giving to us. Unfortunately, too often we take more than what is comfortably offered. However, when we step back and appreciate nature not for what it can give us, but simply for what it is, we realize an entirely new realm of value beyond anything we might take for industrial reasons.
The tranquility of a secluded lake. The majesty of the mountains. The serenity of the ocean tides. The vibrancy of the forest. These are the gifts of nature that are most often overlooked, but that must be defended to the hilt. Without them, we lose a vital part of our humanity.
