“But my dear man, reality is only a Rorschach ink-blot, you know.”  – Alan Watts

One of the greatest freedoms that we have in life is that of perception. Much to the consternation of cynics all around, the optimist has the freedom to find goodness where many can find none. Even in the bleakest of times, there are those who still harness the ability to see the light at the end of the tunnel or the silver lining on the cloud. Whatever visions life might offer us, it is our perception of them which ultimately defines how they will affect us.

This does not necessarily give us the power to vanquish reality or to live in ignorance, but it does afford us the opportunity to find hope in all things and to alter the reality simply by our perception of it. Should we perceive dire straits as indeed dire, they shall be so. Yet if we should perceive problems as mere challenges, we will perceive the path to overcome them.

Reality is what we make of it. What are you making of yours?
