“Those who educate children well are more to be honored than parents, for these only gave life, those the art of living well.” – Aristotle

As schools have let out for the summer, let us not forget the valuable asset our teachers are to us and our children. For most of the year, they spend more time with our children than most parents are able to. They not only teach them about reading, writing, and arithmetic, but about how to negotiate relationships and live a better life. If you know a teacher or happen to meet one in passing, whether you have children or not, be sure to thank them for the service they provide and let them know that they are appreciated.

We love our daughter's teachers and her school. Yet we'd like to not be discounted as parents for the teaching we do also. Stay at home parents, parents who work from home, part time working parents do spend more waking hours with their children during the school year than with their teachers. School is certainly a "second home" so it is very important, but home and family are the foundation for learning "the art of living well."
