“Most people work just hard enough not to get fired and get paid just enough money not to quit.” – George Carlin

The hidden blessing for many in this economic climate is rediscovery of a sense of purpose. Many have spent years stuck in jobs that brought them no joy and little meaning, but as the economy has changed, either by choice or by force, many have had the opportunity to revisit what is important to them in their lives and rededicate themselves to more than just bringing home a paycheck.

Are you passionate about the work that you are doing? Are you passionate about the person that you are? Is there a way to align the two?

Some of us have times in our lives when we simply need to drop what we are doing and start something new. For others, we must merely take another look at what we are doing and remember why we started doing it in the first place. Whatever the case, may you do what you do with passion and presence.

  1. Having trained over a thousand people to start a business in my previous field for over 10 years, only to sell the business…I decided to find my passion and I can say first hand that if you look for it – you can find it in almost anything you do. Whether washing boats, gardening, sailing building high performance homes, growing a business, or taking out the trash…there is an amazing amount of satisfaction and joy that comes from giving it your level best. I didn't see it coming…but I believe I spoke about some of these things when discussing life and business with Dick Gordon of The Story on NPR…. http://thestory.org/archive/The_Story_12411_Full_…
