“It’s easier to put on slippers than to carpet the whole world.” – Al Franken
In our attempt to change the world, the task before us can seem sometimes daunting. It often seems that for every step we make toward raising awareness of environmentally sustainable ways of interacting with the world, others are bounding down more avenues of consumption and waste. Nevertheless, there is solace in the knowledge that we are doing all that we can, in spite of whatever the rest of the world might do. Each meager step we make toward recycling, energy efficiency, and personal health may go completely unobserved by anyone else, but the fact that we are doing what we feel is right should serve as a consolation in itself. If not, take a moment to consider that if our light steps are not being noticed, how many others are not being noticed either? All of our light footprints may not make a lot of noise, but they will eventually get us to where we want to go.
