
Selim Sandoval
Recently named one of Grist Magazine‘s 40 People Who Are Redefining Green, Selim Sandoval, “born in Guatemala and raised in South Central L.A., is hard at work creating green jobs in Southern California. His company Growingreen Energy installs renewable energy systems and trains workers to enter the field, while another venture, EarthPlay Learning Adventures, creates customized outdoor learning programs for kids and adults. Sandoval also works as community relations advisor for Sunside Solar, which manufactures solar systems, and as green jobs coordinator for Venice YouthBuild, which helps at-risk youth get on a positive career track.”
Selim is currently working with an initiative called “Green the Rez”, bringing environmental sustainability initiatives to the Native American population including “Energy Efficiency and Conservation, Weatherization, Waste Reduction and Recycling, Environmental Friendly Purchasing, Renewable Energy and Low Carbon Fuels, Land Use and Community Design (Permaculture), Economic Development and Green Collar Jobs, Efficient Transportation, Green Building, Water and Recycled Water Systems, promoting Community and Individual Action.”
