“We know a great deal more about the causes of physical disease than we do about the causes of physical health.” – M. Scott Peck

In Eastern medicinal traditions, the doctor would only be paid while the patient was healthy, assuring that his focus was more often on health than disease. Contrarily, Western medicine has become consumed with disease, and it may very well be that this intense focus upon what it has been fighting has actually helped to strengthen its hold upon our society. Yet as our cultures have merged and greater understanding of healthy living is being attained, we are finding ways to again bring our attention to what is good for us instead of what destroys us. May we continue to raise our consciousness to the point of reveling in the positive instead of being mired in the negative. For the best way to avoid disease is to embrace optimal health in body, mind, and spirit.
