H&M "The Garden Collection" 2010

H&M Garden Collection

When I first heard about “The Garden Collection”, by Swedish mega-brand H&M I was impressed that they too were jumping on the eco-friendly band wagon. H&M is known for their cheap high fashion styles and collaborations with classic designers like Karl Lagerfeld, Jimmy Choo and most recently Sonia Rykiel, so announcing an Eco friendly line is a sensible move for the H&M empire.

In an effort to contribute to a more sustainable world, “The Garden Collection” is made of environmentally adapted materials, such as recycled polyester, organic cottons and linens. Not only is the collection Eco friendly it’s absolutely lust-worthy. And everything is under $65, so it doesn’t break the bank. Perusing the Lookbook filled with bright colors and bold prints on beautifully shaped pieces, I found myself filled with anticipation for the release of the collection on M

arch 25th.

When the day had finally arrived, the collection in person was everything the pictures had promised and more. There was a little bit of everything for all shapes and sizes, and each piece appeared well made. The key piece at my store was the Watercolor Dress I’d been drooling over for months under $20, which sold out later that day. Other noteworthy pieces were the Floral Shorts, the Origami Strapless dress and Ruffled T-shirt dresses in Spring’s must have colors cobalt and blush.

All in all I was impressed with the “Garden Collection” and think H&M is on the right track. And I look forward to seeing more Eco Friendly collections from H&M. Visit hm.com for more info and a store near you.
