I’ve come to learn that fashion is a cycle, trends come and go and that I’m never going to get rid of any piece of my clothing! Vintage shopping is my favorite and an easy way to find older items that are this season’s most popular trends. It’s only the first week of spring so it’s not too late to look stylish and trendy. The trends I have chosen below are easy to find at many vintage and thrift stores. Here are the hottest and easiest trends seen on the runway for this spring:
1. Wedge
The wedge was quite the comeback kid seen all over many runways like Celine’s pictured above. Hopefully you still have a pair tucked away in your closet. If not, wedges are so popular that they will be easy to find in vintage & thrift stores.
2. Patched Denim
This trend was brought back on the runway by Chloe. Older patchwork denim is easy to find in thrift stores and also a fun DIY project. So start patching up your old torn denim and get ready for spring! You can also do this with black denim as seen by Chanel.
3. Slouchy Dresses
Slouchy dresses are very similar to the “maxi” style dress which was so popular last spring. The difference between maxi dresses and slouchy dresses is that unlike the slouchy dress the maxi is formfitting at the top. This spring the slouchy dress was seen on the BCBG Maz Azria runway. When vintage shopping, look for dresses which are 1-2 sizes larger than you would normally buy. The slouchy fit is loose & baggy.
4.Clog
Since the clog was seen down Chanel’s runway, it’s become a sudden craze. Many affordable brands are making clog styles for the season but I found mine on Ebay for $30. They are vintage from the 70s and I absolutely love them. You will see these all over retails stores, sites like Ebay and vintage stores.
5. TieDye
Thanks to Proenza Schouler and Blumarine we can wear our tie dye again! Recycle your old tie dyed middle school camp t-shirt or visit your local thrift shop to find a tie dye item near you.
6. Military Jacket
The hottest American designer of the year, Marc Jacobs started the military jacket trend for spring. This is basically any khaki or olive green jacket with usually two front pockets and buttons down the front; another easy item to find in a consignment or thrift store.
