“A lot of exercise is mindless; you can have music or the radio on and not be aware. But if you’re aware in anything you do – and it doesn’t have to be yoga – it changes you. Being present changes you.” – Mariel Hemingway

One does not need to be aware in order for physical exercise to strengthen the body. You don’t have to focus your mind on your muscles in order for them to grow. You only need to flex them.

However, to be truly healthy, repetitive physical exertion gives you ample opportunity to exercise your mind as well by fully being aware of all that your body is doing. As your body goes through the motions of whichever exercise you choose, and your mind grows aware of how it is functioning, there can be an even deeper awareness, making whatever exercise you practice into a spiritual experience, a prayer, an act of worship, or a meditation.

Exercise can be more than one dimensional. It can unify the Mind/Body/Spirit connection.
