Your Daily Groove – Fashion Fades

Photo from The Time Travelers

“Art produces ugly things which frequently become more beautiful with time. Fashion, on the other hand, produces beautiful things which always become ugly with time.” – Jean Cocteau

There is nothing quite so comical as looking at the fashions of previous generations, especially when we realize how hard we tried to attain those fashions for our own wardrobes. As much as we might chase the fashions of today, in another twenty years we’ll probably be shaking our heads at the photos of ourselves. However, in this generation, we may be able to look back at the clothes we wear today, and while we may be embarrassed by the style, we will still be able to find pride in the fact that our fabrics were sustainable. The lycra, spandex, and polyester has not only faded out of fashion, it has faded out of usefulness. Hopefully, the beauty of organic material will never go out of fashion.
