How do businesses go green? And, possibly more importantly, how should businesses relate that to their customer base?
Printed materials
Businesses have a lot of printed materials that they use. Companies have business cards, letterhead, envelopes, brochures, and the list continues. What if these printed resources came from an eco friendly printer? Choosing an eco friendly printer can be difficult at times. A business owner or decision maker must make sure that the printer truly is eco friendly. Many printers say that they are eco friendly, but make sure you do your research. Most eco friendly printers will tell you why they’re eco friendly if you just ask.
Power source
This green tip can even save businesses money! Everybody loves saving money. Businesses consume a lot of energy, compared to the average home. This is not necessarily a bad thing, either. Lights need to be on, computers need to run, etc. Solar panels can help reduce the cost of the power. If a business can put together just a few panels, they can run certain parts of their business on solar energy. For example, the hot water heater can be run off a solar panel. If this change is made, that’s great. Then, make a second change and put the air conditioning units on the solar energy. The solar panels can be installed so that when they run out of energy, the source will automatically change back to the original source.
Relate changes to the customers
Once a business has started to make changes to their environmental impact, the customers need to know! An effective method to make sure customers know about the changes is with a promotional tote bag. Businesses can utilize imprinted green bags to show their customers the new green steps they are taking. A logo and slogan could be printed on the promotional bag that says something like, “We’re going green.” Customers will feel good that they are purchasing products from a company that is helping the environment, and they will also love the new reusable shopping bag that you give them!
Remember, don’t try to do too many things at once. Going green is a great thing for the environment, but only if you’re actually doing it. Make small changes first, then, worry about the big ones later. You have to make sure that you’re still in business, and having fun doing it!

You can save money in the office immediately by installing hand bathroom bidet sprayers in your toilets. With these you almost don't need toilet paper anymore just a towel to dry off. It can usually be attached without a plumber to the same water line as the toilet. Not only saves you money but it's very green by cutting back on toilet paper use and manufacture and it also has health benefits when it comes to hemorrhoids. It's a great gadget for under $50.00! Hiya Jeff, huh…I'm not really sure how to respond. Normally, I don't allow for blatant advertising but I couldn't let this one go without sharing. Not sure I would really feel comfortable spraying my bottom. What about water paste versus paper waste?
Hi Jaszy, I want to offer my appreciation for this post and Modern Hippie Mag. The issue of going green can seem daunting, but as you point out, we can make our businesses more sustainable without huge costs or unweildly complexity. Keep up the good work!

Howdy Richard! Thanks for stopping by! We are very grateful to Brandon for sharing these tips. Personally, I'm not in a position to put solar panels on my roof, however I am glad that I found an eco-friendly local printer to take care of printing needs and we now have our very own Modern Hippie Mag promo reusable totes! Check them out…http://www.modernhippiemag.com/products-page/acce...
And thanks for sharing your finance/green money articles with us as well, we're looking forward to more!
Hi Modern, I get that allot, blatant advertising is mostly annoying when what they're advertising isn't interesting = most of the time. But the sprayer is more than interesting…..it's wonderful! Spray your bottom a couple of times and you won't know how people can do without it. I know. For people who are completely satisfied with just smearing and wiping with toilet paper it's probably superfluous, but I almost always had to use the sink or shower for a complete washing and compared to that the Hand Bidet Sprayer is a water saver and much more efficient. It's 10 times better than a bidet and will save people money instantly by lowering their toilet paper use. It also has health benefits for hemorrhoids and rectal itch. "Don't Say It, Spray It" Cheers, Jeff
So, let me get this straight…after going potty, you spray your bottom clean? Then what, drip dry? You gotta wipe with SOMETHING be it tissue or washcloth. Not sure how I feel about having to wash out a washcloth each time I go potty.
No, you don't drip dry, you can use toilet paper (it takes allot less to dab off a little water than you know what, after all women do that all the time when they pee correct?) or you can use a towel like I do. You don't wash out your towel every time your dry your hands do you? Soap is optional. The water pressure alone is usually sufficient to do the job and far superior to toilet paper alone. It's great, truly, Jeff
No, I don't wash out my towel each time I wash my hands, but I also don't have pee on it. I'm less worried about the pee as I am the poop! Needless to say, I'm gonna stick to toilet paper Jeff.
Not to get too detailed but let's be logical here. You pee, you wipe, but you Never get any pee on your hands and when you wash it's all washed off, wait but didn't the sprayer wash you also. But that's different right? Yes it is for people who have never tried it, heavy sigh, because actually it's an even better washing. Oh well, allot of people are sticking (litteraly) to toilet paper only and heh if that let's you feel clean enough wipe on. Regards, Jeff
