In a world that is so often devastated by misfortune and catastrophe, we can always find blessings in the ability to lift one another up from the rubble. Though things may seem bleak, we can offer hope. Though things may seem dire, we can offer faith. Though things seem disastrous, we can offer our service. Though the powers that be continue to clamor for war, we can offer peace. For as long as the human heart is capable of love, and our hands are capable of work, we are able to come together as a community and lift ourselves from whatever trials we may face. Inasmuch as the world around us may give to us hardships, it also gives us untold opportunities for service. In that, it gives us the opportunity to realize that we are all one. When one of us suffers, a few may feel it, but when one of us serves, we all are lifted up.
