“I’m a former hippie, so clothes are important to me – your clothes defined you in that period. I guess clothes still defines people. But, I change a lot. I’m in my Brooks Brothers period now.” – John Hughes

iStock_000008162433XSmallDoes a change of clothes automatically bring about a change of heart? Are the ideas of peace and love diminished because no one is wearing tie-tied t-shirts anymore? I think that clothes defined the first wave of hippies, but I think we’ve grown as a species, evolved beyond being defined by our wardrobe. The modern hippie has a heart that is unchangeable, devoted to peace, love, and conscious living, regardless of what he is wearing.

  1. The heart is truly what makes the character of the man (and woman). Clothes did define the first wave of hippies as they stood out against the fabric of society. The heart, as you pointed out, is truly what clothes our character. A heart full of love and compassion for our fellow man and our environment.

    Thank you for the reminder.

  2. And thank you for the comment. Great to see someone wearing their heart so well.

The soul of the person as well as the personality is the thing that makes the man or the women. I do not think that it matters if you are wearing something from GUESS or something from wallyworld, your clothes do not define who you are. Your relationships with everyone else in your life is what makes you, you, your clothes only matter on how well you look while going about your life.
