Amazing all that has happened in this last year and if you’re like me you’ll spend tonight celebrating how thankful you are to have survived!
For many, New Year’s celebrations will include colorful firework shows. These spectacles of pyrotechnic wonder can contain heavy metals that may pose some health concerns, and even though there are some areas using greener, eco-friendly options you may wish to take some precautions to limit your exposure to not-so-nice chemicals.
1. Keep your distance. Residue from fireworks will be most concentrated in the area where they are ignited. You don’t have to be right under the show to enjoy it.
2. Cover up. Use a bandanna or face mask, available as most drug stores, to decrease inhaling chemical residue which can irritate lungs.
3. Be safe. Don’t take the chance of injuring yourself or others. Attend a professional or community organized fireworks show rather than trying to do one yourself.

Happy New Year’s, enjoy!
