On Saturday, November 15, 2009, Sarasota’s Natural Awakenings Magazine, (www.nasrq.com) held their Second Annual “Sarasota Naturally” festival to educate and celebrate  organic products and healthy living. While there Modern Hippie Mag  had the privilege of speaking with co-founder Jason Cross, publisher of Natural Awakenings,  and a number of vendors with some extraordinary products.

Amy Beckman presented Wildtree (www.amyb.mywildtree.com) a line of all-natural spices free of  additives,  preservatives,  MSG, and dyes. We sampled super-antioxidant and energy drinks presented by Gregg Corella from  EIRO Research (www.corella.ieiro.com). We were wowed by David Jaffers’  jaw dropping demonstrations of Wow Green (www.wowgreen.net/101336), a  line of non-toxic, all-natural cleaning solutions. Not only do each of these companies offer great natural products, but they also offer business opportunities for anyone who might want to make a little extra money.

We were equally impressed with Miles Outside (www.milesoutsideorganic.com), a new line of dehydrated organic baby food created by avid hiker Courtney Washmuth.  This is a great healthy alternative for parents on the go.

With approximately 170 vendors at the event, our video profile shows only a fraction of what the event had to offer. However, you’ll have a  chance to see many of them again when Natural Awakenings hosts its three city Earth Day celebration in April.

Until then, look into the festivals that are going on in your neck of the woods to  support  local businesses in your area. This  holiday season  discover  truly unique gifts while supporting your local economy and make a lighter carbon footprint.
