Modern Hippie Mag is a fairly new endeavor, and we are just tickled that we’ve made such progress in a relatively short amount of time. We are very grateful for our regular and guest contributors who continue to share thought provoking and current eco-news with style, flair and individuality, which are the hallmarks of the “modern hippie”. Collectively we have no political agenda or religious affiliation. We are acutely aware of our environmental plight and recognize and support the rise of the Creative Class. It is our aim to educate, to share a global camaraderie, shun conformity, and embrace individuality, much like the hippie movement of old.
In developing this online resource, our intent is to revisit the spirit that made such a prevalent impact on the Sixties, merging the idealism that created the movement with enough pragmatism to allow us to effect actual change in our world and society. What made the first hippie movement so powerful was their desire to break with the conventions that did not serve them, to rally for peaceful living, and to realize and appreciate the unity and diversity of all. We believe these should be the same principles that guide the Modern Hippie today.
By adhering to these principles we have added several new contributors and seen a steady growth in readership since we began earlier this year. With growth comes change and we are very excited that we will be adding some very cool new features to the site in the coming weeks. You can look forward to video profiles, “Modern Hippie of the Month” features, and many more new contributors.
In addition, Modern Hippie Mag has gotten a new look! A great amount of thanks go to Chad of Chad Richter Designs for helping us refine our branding to best communicate visually what Modern Hippie Mag is all about.
In designing our logo with Chad, it came as a truly organic experience, us feeding principles to Chad and him delivering the fruit of our combined ideas. The resulting logo features a symbol that we feel embodies many meanings. We see it as a target to guide us toward our goal of global change and a multi-layered circumpunct pointing to the diversity which creates the All. Whatever you might see in it, we welcome your comments and visions as we continue to educate, enlighten, entertain, and create an atmosphere promoting healthy living, environmental sustainability, and other eco-stuff that will help us make our world a better place one day at a time.
